Determinants of wage rates

Depending on the structure and traditions of different economies around the world, wage rates are either the product of market forces (Supply and Demand), as is common in the United States, or wage rates may be influenced by other factors such as tradition, social structure and seniority, as in Japan.

Several countries have enacted a statutory minimum wage rate that sets a price floor for certain kinds of labor.

How does wage garneshment work for someone who works for tips?
Q. If you make below minimum wage and work for tips, what happens when someone tries to garnish your wages?

A. Great Question! If you have no wages they can't be garnished...it seems to me. Garnishment is served on the employer and he/she deducts it from a wage. Can your tips be confiscated and then garnished? You can get some free advice here www.freeadvice.com/

What will minimum wage be after congress and the president get finished ?
Q. I know they talk of a living wage, but how much should it be ?

A. No one will be paid a "wage" as such any more. We will all go to the government handout store and get what the government says we deserve. We will work at the jobs the government decides we should do. We will read what the government decides we should read. We will be told what the government decides we ned to know. All of this is coming unless we wake up and replace the career politcians now in Washington, DC.

How do you make wage slips for an employee?
Q. I have a small business and want to hire an employee - how would I make wage slips to show they are making National Insurance contributions and pay tax? Answers from UK only please.

A. You must first be registered with inland revenue. As an employer you will have an employers registered number. When a new employee starts to work with you, they call the revenue quoting your number. You will receive a tax cert for this employee. If you don't know how to complete it, just outsource to a local book keeper. It will be 1 hours work a week or fortnightly. No problem. Then they will produce a correct payslip and they will complete your monthly return for you as long as you write the cheque. A piece of cake :))
